TUI river cruisesThe new ship, TUI Isla, set sail on her maiden route on April 1, 2022 after her christening ceremony on March 28, 2022.
TUI Isla is the third and final ship to join the cruise line’s fleet and traveled from Basel, Switzerland, before heading to Strasbourg, France, then Rudesheim, Koblenz and Cologne, Germany.
“We are delighted to complete our TUI River Cruises fleet with the departure of TUI Isla,” said Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruises at TUI UK. “Its addition allows us to visit ports of call and destinations where we have never been before. We’ve had amazing feedback from customers sailing on TUI Maya and TUI Skyla since their launch last year, so we’re excited to be able to offer even more itineraries to our customers.
Sponsor Courtney Smith, a homeworker at TUI, named the ship and pressed the button to smash a bottle of champagne onto the hull in keeping with maritime tradition.
“I am honored to be the godmother of TUI Isla,” said Smith. “It’s amazing to finally be able to christen her, and the fact that she’s the last ship in the fleet makes her really special. TUI river cruises have been so popular with our customers and after sailing on TUI Isla, I I can now see why. It’s been a really special experience and I feel incredibly lucky to be playing such an important role in the brand.
TUI River Cruises has expanded its summer 2022 offer with two new itineraries and a new stopover. The ‘Treasures of the Main’ itinerary includes the new port of call of Aschaffenburg in Germany, while the new seven-night round trip to Frankfurt, named ‘Legends of the Rhine’, will call at Cologne, Bonn and Koblenz , also in Germany.
Passengers sailing on the “Legends of the Rhine” route will also be able to attend the Rhine in Flames festival, a traditional fireworks display which takes place every year on the second Saturday of August.
