Tui River Cruises launches in Germany | New
Tui launched his latest business, Tui River Cruises, after an 18-month delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A christening ceremony with pyrotechnics and ‘champagne smash’ officially named Tui Cruises’ first ship, Tui Maya with newly appointed godmothers, Rosie Brooks and Catherine Hawkins taking their honorary roles.
The guests then embarked for an overnight cruise to Boppard to explore the delights of the Rhine.
While on board, they will gain insight into the onboard experience, from exceptional service to culturally rich excursions, including sailing through the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Rhine Gorge, known for their breathtaking views and their fairytale castles.
Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruise Tui UK & I, said: “We are delighted to finally launch Tui River Cruises and have had a fitting celebration to make Tui River Cruises sail in style.
“The team worked tirelessly to get to this launch, and they did an amazing job.
“The first feedback we have had has been incredible and we are now all very happy to welcome our first customers this weekend.
“People were impressed with the sleek design and contemporary feel and surprised with the space of the ship.”
He added, “It was also a pleasure to have our amazing godmothers on board to officially christen Tui Maya.
“Tui launched a nationwide search for his godmothers last year and over 750 applications found the perfect candidates in Rosie Brooks, an illustrator from London and Catherine Hawkins, a university examining officer from Barnsley.
“Rosie and Catherine both have a passion for exploration that put them at the top of the list and their desire to cruise really manifested itself, making them the ideal godmothers.”
The first sailing customer departs on August 15 on the Moselle Valley route, visiting the German hot spots of Frankfurt and Koblenz as well as lesser-known destinations of Trier, Piesport and Oberwesel.
