TUI River Cruises dismisses fears of disruption to vacation despite German Covid rules

The UK’s largest tour operator, TUI, has taken action to allay fears that its popular river cruise program will be affected by the new strict Covid restrictions in Germany.

Much of the holiday schedule focuses on the Rhine, with stops at traditional drop-off points in towns and villages along the river.

But the fourth wave of Covid in Germany is the most serious yet, and only those who have been vaccinated or recently recovered from the virus are allowed in restaurants, cinemas, leisure facilities and many stores.

There is also growing concern about the spread of the Omicron variant, which EU health officials say is likely to cause more than half of all Covid cases in the coming months.

However, TUI reassured guests that their party trips would not be affected.

A spokesperson for TUI said: “We continue to closely monitor the situation in Germany. Although there are closures and changes to Christmas markets across the country, these have not taken place. impact on our river cruise itineraries.

“The vast majority remain open and we provide all the additional lateral flow testing our customers need to visit sites or enjoy experiences ashore to continue their vacations as planned.

“Customer response to our themed winter cruises has been overwhelmingly positive and customers appreciate the spectacular Rhine river scenery and take every opportunity to explore all it has to offer. “

All travelers returning to the UK will now need to take a PCR test on the second day and self-isolate until they receive a negative test result.

Passengers who do not wish to travel and until December 19 inclusive can modify their vacation for free. Redemption credits cannot be offered to customers.
