TUI River Cruises christens its second ship TUI Skyla

TUI Skyla was decorated as a “Winter Wonderland” to celebrate her baptism

TUI River Cruises has officially christened the second ship to join its fleet, TUI Skyla, before it embarks on its maiden ‘Mistletoe and Rhine’ sailing.

The ceremony was presided over by Company Captain Marco Menke and the ship’s sponsor, University Review Officer Catherine Hawkins. The ship’s upper deck was themed as a “Winter Wonderland” to celebrate the occasion, complete with igloo-style pods, a choir, hot chocolate and mulled wine. Sparklers lined the quay as TUI Skyla departed, signaling its official entry into the river cruise company’s fleet.

The Mistletoe and Rhine trip will stop in several German cities, including Cologne, Dusseldorf and Koblenz, where guests can visit local Christmas markets. Passengers will also be able to take part in Christmas activities, drink mulled wine and taste regional Christmas dishes on board.

“We are delighted to welcome the second ship to the TUI River Cruises fleet on our first festive cruise of the year,” said Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Cruises at TUI UK. “The feedback we’ve had from customers sailing TUI Maya, which launched in August, has been incredible, so we’re excited to offer even more to our customers and look forward to completing the fleet with TUI Isla in the spring. next. “
