Travel Iowa’s recommended scenic drives, orchards, festivals, and more

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) -Jessica O’Riley of Travel Iowa informs viewers of all the countless options related to statewide fall deals for beautiful road, rail or river trips, celebrations, activities and much more.

As for fall foliage timelines (according to the Iowa DNR), the northern third of Iowa should begin to see peak color from late September to mid-October, the midsection – including the QCA – expects the first three weeks of October, and the southern third of the state will likely have the most vibrant fall color during the second to fourth week of October.

The first interview segment offers recommendations for:

  • Pumpkin fields or apple orchards: Wilson’s Orchard & Farm (Iowa City), Bloomsberry Farm (Atkins) and Deals Orchard (Jefferson)
  • Beer festivals: Amana Colonies (September 30-October 2) and Waverly Oktoberfest October 7-8 (Waverly)

The second segment finds O’Riley offering different types of trips to enjoy the state:

  • Of the car: Scenic Byways (beautiful routes to consider)
