January ScotRail schedules change completely as routes are canceled tomorrow

MAJOR cuts in Scottish rail services caused by staff shortages are expected to start tomorrow.

ScotRail is withdrawing or changing services from 12 different routes across the country amid a wave of Covid-19 cases among their staff.

Absences have already resulted in the cancellation of some trains in the run-up to Christmas and the train operator has now changed its schedule between January 4 and 28.

The rail operator broke the news ahead of the new year and said changes were mostly in Scotland’s central belt, but passengers from all parts of the country are urged to check their travel status before to get to their local train station.

ScotRail Chief Operating Officer David Simpson said: “Like most businesses, ScotRail is not immune to the impact of coronavirus.

“We have worked hard to operate a safe and reliable railway under really difficult and rapidly changing circumstances.

“As we continue to fight the impact of the coronavirus, we want to provide customers with a level of certainty, which is why we are introducing temporary changes to our schedule from Tuesday January 4 to Friday January 28, 2022.

“We have sought to spread these changes throughout the day as much as possible to minimize the impact on our customers, but people should plan ahead and continue to check train schedules until they arrive at the train station. station.

“We urge all who travel with us to stay safe and to continue to follow government guidelines.

“This includes maintaining good hand hygiene and wearing a face cover throughout your trip. ”
